Call for national and international collaborative projects of the cardiometabolic health, diabetes and obesity (CMDO) Research Network
This competition is closed.
Created in April 2012 by the Research Fund of Quebec – Santé (FRSQ), the Research Network on cardiometabolic health, diabetes and obesity aims to develop research excellence in these areas, to transmit knowledge and to develop the knowledge to promote the quality of life of Quebecers.
The network is calling for national and international collaborative projects for the 2017-2018 year. This contest invites scholars regular members of the network to propose collaborative projects in the areas of cardiometabolic health, diabetes and obesity. Two projects for these areas of research will be funded by excellence. This year, these national or international projects are, among others, must involve members of the researchers CMDO Quebec Network and SRAP Canadian Network on diabetes and its associated complications (outside Quebec). In addition, intersectoral distribution will be enhanced (i.e. different research areas: 1) pre-clinical; 2) clinical; 3) population-; 4) health system). The eligibility criteria and the method of evaluation described below. The scientifically excellent projects that demonstrate a structuring effect on research within the network will be funded up to $ 30,000 for one year.
The deadline for submission of applications is December 10 of each year, for a beginner funding by March 1 of the following year.
Applications submitted late, incomplete or do not meet the eligibility criteria will not be evaluated. Funded projects must be initiated no later than March 1 of the following year. Funding recipients will be required to make a presentation of their findings as part of the annual meeting of the Joint CMDO Network with the Quebec Society for Lipid Nutrition and Metabolism (SQLNM), following the completion of the project.
Eligibility criteria:
1) Only one application per year in total, as principal investigator (regular member of CMDO Network), may be submitted to the contest Intercentre or national / international initiatives. We must therefore choose one of two programs (Intercentre or national / international). There is no limit as co-investigator.
2) national or international collaborative project, necessarily incorporating at least one board member researcher CMDO Quebec Network and a member of the Canadian Network on SRAP diabetes and its associated complications (outside Quebec). An international researcher can be integrated into the team, but it is not mandatory (all Québec researchers named in the application must be a member of before submitting the final file)
3) Direct involvement of at least one student or postdoctoral fellow (member of the Quebec team);
4) Demonstration of a structuring effect on research in the network, according to its objectives (eg. Establishment of new cross-sectoral collaboration within the network or international, standardized methods, implementation of a platform or common resources);
5) Demonstration of a clear plan for the subsequent obtaining financing from a source other than the FRQS (eg. CIHR, private or other partner).
Materials required when filing a claim:
1) CMDO completed application form (online, see below);
2) Curriculum Version FRQS update curriculum (including detailed Contributions section) of all participating researchers at the request and the student or postdoctoral fellow Quebecois directly associated with the project. Equivalent FRQS CV for all researchers outside Quebec (ex. CV CIHR). All CV (PDF) must be submitted by email tothe network coordinator or at info@rrcmdo.ca.
application assessment process:
An external scientific committee will be formed to evaluate all the applications submitted. The chair of the committee will be provided by an external researcher to the network or has not submitted request. A member of the management committee of the network will attend the discussions as an observer and coordinator. The competition results will be announced in February of the year following the date of application.
Applications will be evaluated based on compliance with the Contest eligibility criteria and the following criteria:
1) scientific merit and potential impact of the project: Clarity of the research question and scientific justification. appropriateness of the study design, feasibility of the methodological approach in the proposed financial framework, including the recruitment of participants, access to databases, methods of laboratory or other data collection method;
2) Originality of application: Potential creation of new knowledge. Originality hypotheses and research questions. Novelty of the approach, new methodologies or new applications of existing methodologies;
3) Competence and complementarity of the research team: Scientific Achievements, history publication, financing and training of students, complementarity of the participating teams and focus on the training of students (eg how the expertise of each. will be used to carry out the project).
4) Structuring effect for research within the network: immediate or potential impact of the proposed project on research within the network, according to its objectives (eg establishing new intersectoral collaborations within the network or the. international standardization of methods, establishment of a platform or common resources);
5) Realism of the budget proposal: Relevance of the proposed use of funds. Clarity and feasibility of the plan for obtaining future or concurrent financing;
It is always important to take the rules and criteria before completing the Form (Open Guide (PDF file at the top of the page) to see the details in the questionnaire).
FORM MUST BE COMPLETED ONLINE (SEE ABOVE LINK). IT CAN BE RECORDED TO BE COMPLETED LATER.
