Area of expertise
Microfluidic devices (also called lab-on-a-chip devices) offer excellent spatial-temporal control over biological samples and their microenvironments.
The devices preserve the viability and architecture of tissue samples under appropriate culture conditions. In oncology, the microfluidics approach can be used to observe the effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy treatments on solid tumour and biopsy samples.
Services offered
Offered services : The CRCHUM’s microfluidics core facility offers three categories of services:
– engineering services for the design and fabrication of microfluidic devices
– biological services for the generation, culture and analysis of 3D cell models
– training to teach the different techniques used by the core facility.
These services are available to internal researchers at the CHUM Research Centre and to academic or industry researchers.
